Youth & Families
Are you looking for ways to experience Judaism as a family? We welcome all, and we prioritize creating opportunities for family members to share their Temple connection. Our hope is that your family comes to consider Temple as their Jewish home away from home. All of our family engagement opportunities are open to the community.

Shabbat Shirenu
Shabbat Shirenu, a Friday night dinner prior to Shabbat service, happens several times a year. It’s a warm, casual chance to be together for Shabbat dinner and catch up with fellow congregants. And of course, children are welcome at all our Shabbat services.
‘Hamisha’ Holidays
In addition to traditional holiday worship services, we offer separate family services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Our popular Tashlich and ‘Reverse Taschlich’ programs are a family highlight during the Days of Awe. Our festive Simchat Torah and Sukkot celebrations are perfect for creating memories for a lifetime. And don’t miss our Purim celebration and the ever-popular Chanukah Bash!
Family Friendly
Families are an integral part of our Tikkun Olam activities to repair the world. On Christmas Day, some families load up delicious dinners and deliver them to Meals on Wheels recipients while others bring platters of cookies to First Responders. Once a year, kids love having the Rabbi bless their pets. Even our Temple library, which is filled with Jewish literature, magazines and reference books, has a special children’s section meant for our littlest readers.
Youth Groups
The Jacksonville Area Federation of Temple Youth (JAFTY) unites Jewish teens through engaging programs that foster fun, friendship, and spiritual exploration. Our youth-led organization creates a welcoming atmosphere where members can explore their Jewish identity and connect with the broader community.
JAFTY offers a variety of activities, from social events to religious and social action programs, allowing teens to build lasting friendships and grow spiritually in a supportive environment.
In JAFTY, teens are encouraged to delve into their Jewish heritage and identity. Our events provide a platform for personal growth and community connection, helping members form a strong, enduring bond with their faith.
Contact Rabbi Ashley Englander for additional information on how to become part of JAFTY.
