Music

Music is a signature feature of our congregation. We have a rich history of including music in every aspect of worship and Jewish life. We are blessed with gifted clergy who generously share their musical talent and who understand that Jewish music—both traditional and contemporary—feeds our spiritual selves. But the music doesn’t stop at the pulpit! We are treated to the joyful rhythm of the Friday Night Live Band monthly. And we have a truly exemplary Temple Chorale which uplifts our Days of Awe with harmonious voices and spiritual passion. Together they invite every congregant to share in song, spirit and belonging.

Friday Night Live Band

Launched in 2013 and guided by Music Director  Jim Goodell, the Friday Night Live Band (FNL) infuses Shabbat with vibrant music that invites the congregation into shared, uplifting  song. Whether you sing, strum, tap a hand drum or play another instrument, there’s always room for your sound on the bimah. FNL anchors multiple Shabbat programs during the year. Check the Temple Calendar for upcoming dates and please email esimon@thetemplejacksonville.org if you are interested in lending your talents.

Temple Chorale

Temple is our home, and we take great joy in the glorious liturgical music that is an integral part of our worship. We look forward each year to the Days of Awe and its magnificent music, made even more meaningful by the dedicated members of our Temple Chorale who enrich our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.  If you enjoy singing, please join us. Everyone is welcome.

Lifting Up Jewish Music

We believe widening the world of Jewish music is essential. Temple has brought in a number of Jewish musicians during the past decade to add to our worship, including Noah Aronson and Elana Arian.  Our congregation eagerly anticipates and supports these special events.

We are equally proud of participating in numerous community events where we can share our musical heritage. Rabbi Glasser has sung with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at the Violins of Hope event, and participates in interfaith services and community commemorations. We believe that sharing our music builds harmony across our wider community.
