Rabbi Maya Glasser

Senior Rabbi
Email Rabbi Glasser

Rabbi Maya Glasser (rabbiglasser@thetemplejacksonville.org) finds great meaning in sacred encounters between people and tradition. Her favorite parts of being a rabbi include connecting with congregants of all ages, learning and growing through classes, prayer, and rituals, and striving to make our ancient texts new again. Rabbi Glasser is a doctoral student at Gratz College in the first-ever academic program solely devoted to Antisemitism Studies. She is a member of the CCAR (Central Conference of American Rabbis) and the WRN (Women’s Rabbinic Network).  She has served Reform Judaism nationally through participating in the CCAR Committee on Worship and Practice, the Editorial Board of their Mourning App, and as a contributing author for Prophetic Voices, a contemporary resource on the writings of the prophets. Locally, she is thrilled to collaborate with honored Jacksonville institutions such as OneJax, the Jacksonville Symphony and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

Before arriving in Jacksonville, Rabbi Glasser was the Assistant Rabbi at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick, NJ, and was ordained from the New York campus of Hebrew Union-College Jewish Institute of Religion in 2018 with their first-ever Certificate in Pastoral Care & Counseling. During her time in rabbinical school, she interned in communities in Belarus, Arkansas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Mississippi, completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education on regular and Palliative Care hospital floors, and worked at the Association of Reform Zionists of America (ARZA). Rabbi Glasser was married to Jake Bayer (z”l). When not at the Temple, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Ariel and their cats, listening to show tunes, and praying for the New York Mets.
