Rabbi Deborah Bell
Rabbi Deborah Bell brings a vibrant blend of academic expertise, organizational leadership, and dedicated pastoral care to her rabbinate. A recent graduate of Hebrew Union College, her studies bridge tradition and modernity, spanning classical texts, Jewish history, and contemporary applications of Jewish Law, bioethics, and artificial intelligence.
Before entering the rabbinate, Rabbi Bell built a distinguished career in academia and the social sciences. Drawing on her background in organizational psychology, leadership, and corporate governance, she has provided extensive advisory services and served on numerous not-for-profit boards. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Simmons College, where her research focused on women and leadership.
Her commitment to community service and global Jewish life is deeply woven into her work. While studying in Israel, she organized benefits for HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) and partnered with the Israel Religious Action Center to produce educational materials. She has also served as a teaching fellow for students of all ages, a rabbinic intern for the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) Press, and a chaplain intern providing clinical pastoral care in a long-term care facility. A Massachusetts native who has traveled extensively through Central and Eastern Europe to study global Jewish communities, Rabbi Bell is passionate about fostering a joyful, inclusive, and purpose-driven congregation.
