A Weekend of Music & Spirit: Artist-in-Residence Elana Arian
This Artist-in-Residence weekend was lovingly sponsored by Karen and Frank (z''l) Backilman
Last weekend, our building was filled with joy and song as we hosted Artist-in-Residence Elana Arian. It was a truly special and memorable event for our Temple family, from the first notes of Shabbat to the final chords of our community concert.
A Weekend of Connection
We began Friday evening with a chance to mingle with Elana, followed by a service that blended traditional prayers and contemporary melody, creating a deep sense of belonging for all who attended. Elana taught us some of her original melodies and led us in a spiritual meditation, reminding us that everyone, even those who despise us, is worthy of blessing.
Saturday morning brought a Torah study where Elana worked with the group to explore various melodies of Oseh Shalom, examining how each composition evokes different emotions and insights from the same prayer. On Saturday evening, we gathered for a special event to honor our Patrons, those who support Temple beyond basic giving. This intimate celebration was a tribute to the dedicated individuals whose generosity ensures the long-term sustainability of The Temple.
On Sunday, the joyful energy continued as Elana joined our Religious School. She visited each class and sang with the students, fostering a vibrant sense of community and excitement for our traditions. We then concluded our time together with our community concert that brought voices from every generation together in a celebration of our shared identity.
