7th Grade Religious School Teacher

Congregation Ahavath Chesed – The Temple is searching for religious school teachers for the upcoming academic year!

We are a large Reform Jewish synagogue with a diverse community committed to engaging and sustaining the Jewish people. Our teachers are committed to making Jewish tradition accessible for their students, so the students can develop their Jewish identities while feeling a sense of peoplehood. We are currently using the Chai Curriculum by Behrman House Publishing. Our teachers are urged to incorporate their creativity into their lesson plans while maintaining the goals of the current curriculum and the religious school.

Hours: Sundays from 9:00am-12:00pm; 27 Class Sessions (October to May); Teacher orientation in August

Pay: $34/hour

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Jewish tradition

  • Ability to teach

  • Strong communication skills

  • Creative lesson planning and delivery

  • Classroom management skills

  • Reliable transportation

  • Punctual and accountable

  • High school diploma/GED certificate
