Havurah

A Havurah (חבורה Hebrew: “fellowship,” plural: havurot) is a small group of Temple members who meet regularly, with or without children, to share Jewish experiences. They learn, pray, play and create Jewish memories. Most havurot depend on the leadership and participation of all the group members, rather than looking to clergy or other Jewish professionals to create the programming.

Havurot do not replace synagogue life. Instead, they extend that sense of community by creating “a family within the Temple family,” smaller friendship groups within the Temple community. They promote friendship and community among members. Typical gatherings might include discussion-based learning, group singing, participatory prayer, food and fellowship.

If you are interested in joining a havurah, call the Temple at (904) 733-7078. A new havurah group will be formed when there is interest.
