Sisterhood

For over 100 years, WRJ-Temple Sisterhood has been active in furthering the highest ideals of Judaism within our Temple family, the Jewish community, and the Jacksonville community. Our award-winning chapter of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) comes together in friendship for programs that benefit The Temple and our community; for study and fun! Comprised of women from varied backgrounds, ages, and interests, our Sisterhood initiates numerous programs, including a Women’s Seder, historical tours and much more

Sisterhood has been instrumental in organizing and implementing social justice, social action, religious, spiritual and educational activities. Their participation within National and District organizations is both financial and through ongoing programming. Sisterhood has always been recognized for its home-baked catering and our Judaica Gift Shop.

The Sisterhood programs and projects are designed to target specific needs in our synagogue and community. The annual Sisterhood Donor event raises money for Camp Coleman scholarships and the Women’s Seder donates its proceeds to Hubbard House, a local safe haven for battered women and children. Sisterhood supports our Religious School, the Temple Braille Group, Jewish Family and Community Services, programs in low-income public schools, animal rescue, and many more worthy causes.

“Our vision is to create a community of women devoted to Reform Jewish Life, bound by a sense of identity, service, friendship and mutual respect. We believe in fostering and furthering the highest ideals of Judaism; promoting fellowship among members; mentoring for religious, social action and educational activities in cooperation with the Temple, the Congregation, and the community; addressing Jewish and humanitarian causes in the community; promoting the causes of Reform Judaism; furthering the objectives of Women of Reform Judaism and the WRJ SE District.”
