Shalom and welcome!
Congregation Ahavath Chesed, The Temple, has been the center of Reform Judaism in northeast Florida for over a century. Chartered in 1882, the Temple planted roots in its current location in 1979. We honor our history, focus on our present and recognize we are building the foundation of our future. Join us.
Our Temple family values active participation in Jewish life. As our name suggests, Ahavath Chesed literally “lovers of mercy,” we partner with God to make the world a better place. We build our Temple community on acts of loving kindness, always trying to fulfill the mitzvah of tikkun olam, repairing the world.
As Reform Jews we are committed to the principle of inclusion. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of age, ethnicity, marital status, sexual orientation or financial means. We extend a special invitation to interfaith families who respect our Jewish values. Jews, those who love Jews and those who are loved by Jews are all welcome.
Our congregation stands on four pillars: worship, lifelong learning, social action and community. We invite you to join us for worship. Enroll in a class; no previous knowledge is expected, just on open mind and a desire to learn. If social justice is your concern, you will find others whose Jewish practice is rooted in social action and advocacy. We look forward to meeting you and your family soon.
